D-4D Clean Power

Fuel in the D–4D is pressurised to an extremely high 135mpa within the "common rail" that feeds all four cylinders (older diesel engines have a separate pipe leading from the pump to each cylinder). The high pressure injection creates better fuel atomisation for complete burning and increased power output. And because there is less fuel wasted though inefficient combustion, the D–4D delivers better fuel economy too.

In addition the computer control unit injects a small amount of fuel into the cylinder just before the main fuel load ignites. This "pilot burn" lowers the explosive force of the main combustion process and goes a long way to reduce the noise and vibration formerly associated with engines. This all goes to make it one of the silkiest diesels ever built.

D–4D 90 (1.4 Litre):

The advanced technology of the D–4D 90 diesel engine offers fuel consumption to a max of 62.8 mpg on Yaris, Auris and 65.7 mpg on Corolla. On the Yaris D–4D 90 engine, this gives a range of 930km on one tankful. The engine offers 190 Nm of torque between a wide rev range of 1800 – 3000 rpm.

D–4D 125 (2.0 Litre):

The 2.0 D–4D engine emits 126 bhp at 3600 rpm and achieves 300 Nm maximum torque at 2000 – 2800 rpm. The advanced technology of the D–4D 125 diesel engine offers fuel consumption to a max of 61.4 mpg. On the Avensis D–4D 125 engine this gives a potential range of over 1000km between tank fills.

D–4D 135 (2.2 Litre):

The D–4D 135 engine with 136 bhp engine provides added power and torque, with excellent fuel economy and significently reduced emissions. For example on the Corolla Verso it offers fuel economy of 44.1 mpg on combined cycle and a max of 52.3 mpg on extra urban cycle. Where as on the RAV4 D–4D 135 engine you can achieve 42.7 mpg on combined cycle.

D-4D 150 (2.2 Litre):

The 2.2 D–4D engine emits 150 bhp at 3600 rpm and achieves 310 Nm maximum torque at 2000 – 3200 rpm. The advanced technology of the D–4D 125 diesel engine offers fuel consumption to a max of 57.6 mpg (extra urban).
